Aerating is probably one of the single most important things to do to your lawn that people neglect all the time. When asked why aerate, I say because it is to your lawn what a oil change is to your car. It is a great way to dethatch your lawn and also a great way to loosen up the ground to allow the roots of your lawn to spread. It is best to aerate your lawn in the fall, as it promotes root health.
